The SWI is a web-based resource for stone wall enthusiasts, an informal regional coalition of property owners, local historians, nature lovers, officers of federal and state agencies, historical and archaeological societies, cultural resource managers, museums, land trusts, architects, scientists, teachers. The SWI is regional, but housed within the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut. It's coordinator is Professor Robert M.Thorson, author of Three Books on stone walls.
