The Grades 3-5 Curriculum, created by Classroom/Enrichment Teacher, Nancy Titchen, corresponds with all of the Framework Themes, while lessons and activities are grounded in the children’s text, Stone Wall Secrets by Robert and Kristine Thorson as well as New England’s abundance of stone walls. Many students are familiar with the presence of stone walls in their neighborhood and are thus afforded innumerable instances in which they may delve into essential questions. Specific lessons, complete with national content standard alignment for each discrete lesson to illustrate the transdisciplinary nature and credibility, are listed for teachers to peruse. Additionally, a host of other resources is available for teachers, including worksheets, a teacher’s kit, a teacher’s reference, links to related texts, and some sample student work.
